Alabama DB Malachi Moore status reportedly updated prior to Texas game
It appears No. 3 Alabama will have a key senior defensive back returning to the lineup for the Week 2 showdown vs. visiting No. 11 Texas.
ESPN’s Chris Low is reporting that Malachi Moore will play on Saturday after sustaining an injury during special teams in Alabama’s season-opening victory vs. Middle Tennessee. Safety Jaylen Key, who also got injured in the season opener, is still undetermined, per Low.
Some good news for @AlabamaFTBL’s defense. Sources tell ESPN that senior DB/star Malachi Moore is expected to play Saturday against Texas after being injured last week in the opener. Still TBD on safety Jaylen Key.

Moore finished with 2 tackles last week before the injury. Key tallied 4 tackles and a 13-yard interception prior to getting hurt.
Earlier in the week, Alabama head coach Nick Saban listed both Moore and key as day-to-day.
“It’s probably too early to tell what their circumstance will be. Probably be a couple of days and then we figure it out,” Saban said. “I don’t think either guy has long-term issues but it’ll be interesting to see how they progress this week.”
Alabama vs. Texas is slated for Saturday at 7 p.m. EST and will be televised on ESPN. In last season’s matchup, Alabama edged Texas 20-19 in Austin on a 33-yard field goal from Will Reichard with 10 seconds to go.
