Alabama deputy athletic director Matt Self was arrested Sunday morning in Tuscaloosa for domestic violence.

According to a report from Patch.com, police were called at 12:10 a.m. Sunday morning and transported to Tuscaloosa County Jail. He is charged with 3rd-degree domestic assault, which is considered a Class A misdemeanor in Alabama.

Deputy Director of Athletics for External Operations Jessica L. Paré released a statement on the incident in the following days:

“Alabama Athletics is aware of this incident,” Paré told Patch.com. “We take such matters seriously and will continue to gather more information to address this personnel matter.”

According to Alabama’s staff directory, Self has worked at UA since 2008 and handles compliance and support services for the athletics department.
