Don’t mess with Bryant Gentry and his brothers.

When the Alabama fan (who may or may not have been named after Bear Bryant) and his brothers, Louisiana natives, were scammed by a scalper selling fake tickets to the College Football Playoff championship game, they didn’t take it lying down.

Instead, they set up a sting for the scalper. While one purchased another set of fake tickets, the other two brothers pressed the end of an empty Coke bottle to the scalper’s head (mimicking the feel of a gun) and held him until police arrived.

According to a Tampa Bay Times report, Gentry had to keep explaining to passersby what was going on so no one would think they were robbing an innocent man:

“All these people had gathered around watching and I kept yelling ‘This guy sold us fake tickets, we’re not robbing him,'” said Gentry, who had hoped to be spending that evening cheering on the University of Alabama taking on Clemson University.

“The only way this weekend could have been better was if we caught the bad guy and our football team won,” Gentry said.

Though Gentry and his brothers were disappointed by the Alabama loss, they are happy that they prevented other Crimson Tide fans from getting scammed. They didn’t get their $2,000 back, but they did keep the scammer from selling an additional 24 fake tickets found in his possession:

“The loss of the game still hurts, but we got him and maybe that stopped someone else from losing money,” Gentry said.

According to the report, the scammer is still in jail and faces charges of grand theft and fraudulent possession of admission tickets.
