Alabama-Florida officials getting criticized for early game-changing call
Officials in the Alabama-Florida game faced early criticism for calls that didn’t seem right.
The most egregious was a pass interference call on Kaiir Elam against John Metchie where it appeared Metchie pushed off near the sideline. Five plays later, the Crimson Tide found the end zone.
That came on the second Alabama touchdown, when the Crimson Tide were not called for an alleged “pick play” as Bryce Young found Jhaleel Billingsley for a touchdown in the front corner of the end zone.
“Alabama is just impossible to beat. Without the officials.”
By and large, the sentiment across social media was officials missed perceived Alabama infractions and highlighted the Florida issues.
That’s a bad DPI call on Kaiir Elam. pic.twitter.com/3kazox8Xvb

Pick play not called on Alabama by SEC officials… not shocking lol

Alabama doesn’t need any additional help. Officials assisted in that TD for Bama, including the TD catch which was an obvious pick play to free Billingsly

No PI, facemask on metchie, pick on Dean. Alabama is near impossible to beat. Without the officials.

#conspiracytheory: #SEC officials get paid a little extra for an Alabama win.

Alabama is already good enough — it doesn’t need help from the officials. That was NOT PI on Kaiir Elam#CFB2021

Good grief. Blatant false start on Alabama before that 3rd and 7 play.
Officials, of course missed it.
They sure called the DPI (that wasn’t DPI) though.
