Alabama in trouble? Fans applaud Vanderbilt’s shocking first half lead over No. 1

Alabama might be in some serious trouble against Vanderbilt in Nashville.

The Commodores are playing inspired against the nation’s No. 1 team and lead heading into the halftime break, 23-14. It doesn’t feel like a fluke either; the Commodores have been excellent on 3rd down and they’ve played great defense (including a pick-6). Somehow, Vandy just keeps moving the ball down the field despite trailing in total yardage at the half.

It defies all logic, but Alabama is in real danger with just 30 minutes left to play.

Now, we’ve seen this kind of thing before. The Crimson Tide struggled heavily against USF both this year and last year. Top teams in college football often get tested early before taking over late in the game. The Crimson Tide did not look good in the first half, but their supreme athleticism means they’re unlikely to be out of this thing unless the Commodores can get a 3-possession lead in the 4th quarter.
