The defending national champions are a hot ticket this fall.

Online ticket marketplace StubHub released its preview for the 2018 college football season on Tuesday. It found that for the first time in five seasons, Michigan has been overtaken as the most in-demand college football team with Alabama taking the top spot. StubHub measures demand in terms of total number of sales, not by the highest-priced ticket or average price of tickets.

StubHub points to the Crimson Tide’s home schedule this fall and the national championship win last season as the primary reasons for a 45 percent increase in demand for tickets in 2018.

“With key rivalries, Auburn and Texas A&M, returning to Bryant Denny Stadium this season, StubHub is seeing extraordinary leading demand from Alabama,” StubHub’s General Manager of NCAA Sports and MLB Jill Krimmel said in a release. “Riding off the excitement of another national championship and these rivalry matchups, it’s understandable that we’re seeing Alabama dethrone Michigan from a five-year-strong lead.”

Alabama’s appeal extends far beyond the Yellowhammer State. A StubHub graphic shows that UA is also the top selling team in Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Kentucky, Missouri, New Mexico, Arizona and Idaho. StubHub notes that 58 percent of its ticket sales come from fans located more than 120 miles from the venue.

The Iron Bowl is currently the seventh-most in-demand college football ticket of 2018 and has an average price of $525. Alabama’s Week 1 meeting with Louisville checks in at No. 10 with an average price of $153.
