Alabama has lost another piece of the 2025 recruiting class, this time from an elite offensive lineman out of Georgia.

According to Hayes Fawcett with On3 Sports, interior offensive lineman Mason Short has decommitted and reopened his recruitment. Short is listed at 6-foot-5.5 and 305 pounds out of Evans (Ga.) High School. He had been committed to the program since April.

According to the 247 Sports Composite, Short is the No. 8 IOL in the country and the 159th overall prospect for the 2025 recruiting class. He joins 5-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench as 2025 recruits to recently decommit from Alabama since Kalen DeBoer’s hiring.

With the recent decisions, Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class is down to 4 players. That group is comprised of 3 top-100 prospects currently headlined by 5-star edge Zion Grady.

Replacing Nick Saban will not be easy, and one of DeBoer’s top challenges will be delivering a strong recruiting class for 2025 and beyond. We’ll see how his staff can regroup in the cycle moving forward.
