Alabama loses defensive lineman to transfer portal after 3 seasons with the Tide
Alabama defensive lineman Anquin Barnes is entering the transfer portal.
Barnes announced that decision on Monday night. A member of Alabama’s 2021 recruiting class, Barnes spent 3 seasons with the Crimson Tide.
Barnes expressed “extreme gratitude” to his coaches and teammates in Tuscaloosa over the past 3 years in his announcement:

Barnes did not appear in a game for Alabama during the 2021 or 2022 campaigns. He did make his program debut against Middle Tennessee earlier this season, but did not record any statistics during his Alabama career.
Barnes is an Alabama native. He attended Robert E. Lee High School in Montgomery. He was a 3-star prospect and the No. 55 defensive lineman in the country for the class of 2021, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
He becomes the 5th player from Alabama’s 2023 roster to enter the transfer portal so far this offseason. The Crimson Tide will likely have more players who enter the portal after the conclusion of the College Football Playoff.
Alabama will face Michigan on Jan. 1.
