The Alabama Crimson Tide will face off against the Michigan Wolverines in the Rose Bowl in one of the two semifinals of the College Football Playoff on Monday, Jan. 1.

Eli Gold has been the Alabama broadcaster since 1988, but missed the 2022 season because of health issues. He came back this year and split time with Chris Stewart as Gold was on the call for home games. It will be Stewart on the call for the Rose Bowl, according to the Alabama game notes.

Stewart will be the play-by-play announcer, while Tyler Watts will be the analyst and Roger Hoover will be the sideline reporter.

After Gold came back this year, Stewart and Gold split time calling Alabama games this year. Stewart called all the road games outside of the Iron Bowl, and called the SEC Championship game.

While they split time on game calls, Gold was the host of  “Hey Coach” and the Nick Saban radio show this entire season as well.

If the Crimson Tide knock off Michigan and advance to the national championship, the expectation is that Stewart will be on the call.

The winner of Alabama and Michigan will play the winner of Texas and Washington on Monday, Jan. 8 in Houston.
