Alabama is looking to return to the College Football Playoff for the fourth straight season, and that quest is off to a 2-0 start.

The Crimson Tide wasted no time in jumping on Fresno State by scoring 28 first half points. The score stood 28-3 at halftime as Alabama cruised to a 41-10 victory.

QB Jalen Hurts was the big star of the game, and he was one of five players selected by the coaching staff as a Player of the Week.

The school made the announcement on Monday.

The Alabama coaching staff recognized five players of the week following the Crimson Tide’s 41-10 victory over Fresno State in last Saturday’s home opener at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Jalen Hurts and Matt Womack on offense, Anthony Averett on defense, and Keith Holcombe and Mack Wilson on special teams.

Hurts completed 14 of 18 passes for 128 yards and a TD while also contributing 154 yards rushing and 2 TD’s on the ground. It was a strong performance to build off moving forward.

Womack played at right tackle for the Tide and helped pave the way for an offense that racked up 305 yards rushing and 497 total yards of offense Saturday.

Averett, a DB, recorded his first career interception Saturday, and Holcombe and Wilson were part of a special teams unit that did not allow Fresno State to gain a yard on punt returns.
