Alabama picks up commitment from 3-star Louisiana athlete Slade Bolden

First-year Alabama offensive coordinator Brian DaBoll liked what he saw from 3-star Louisiana Slade Bolden. Now the West Monroe product is on board for the Crimson Tide’s 2018 class.

On 247Sports, Bolden is listed as an all-purpose back, but it appears Bolden’s pass-catching abilities are what impressed DaBoll the most.

“To Coach Daboll, a slot receiver is like a whole other position, it’s a different mindset,” Bolden told BamaOnLine last month. “You’ve got to be able to find holes in the defense and settle in, run quick routes, have great hands, and not be afraid to take a lick. He sees me as some of the guys he’s worked with in New England.”

The 5-foot-11, 198-pounder also considered TCU and LSU. The 247Sports Composite rates him as the No. 14 all-purpose back and No. 27 Louisiana product. Alabama is now up to eight commitments for 2018 in a class certain to grow in the coming months.
