It wasn’t just the media and fans that were surprised to hear Jalen Hurts’ comments over the weekend at Alabama’s Meda Day event — the comments appear to have thrown his teammates off guard, too.

If you missed what Hurts had to say, here are the highlights of his weekend comments:

“This is a situation that is uncontrollable,” Hurts said. “Coaches can’t control this situation. They dictate who plays. But as far as variations to it, they don’t control it honestly. This whole spring ever since the game, they kind of wanted to let it play out. They kind of, I guess, didn’t think it was a thing or tried to let it die down like it wasn’t something there because it has always been the elephant in the room.

“No one came up to me the whole spring, coaches included, no one asked me how I felt. No one asked me what was on my mind. No one asked me how I felt about the things that were going on. Nobody asked me what my future held.”

During his Tuesday media availability, offensive lineman Ross Pierschbacher revealed that some of the players held a team meeting to air it all out and came out with “closure” following the meeting.

“We are all ready to move forward. It’s not about those two guys, what happens with that. We are going to play regardless,” Pierschbacher said. “We are just excited to get back out on the field, be together and grow as a team; and grow as a family as well, closer together and just get ready for the season.”

He added, “I think it was a good thing.”
