At Alabama, a time of 7.46 is not typically that fast, but in terms of the “tee guy,” it’s plenty, at least for strength coach Scott Cochran.

Cochran promoted Alabama’s “tee guy,” the man responsible for collecting the tee on the field following the kickoff, in a video he posted to Twitter.

Cochran’s personality is well known around college football, and he’s even parlayed it into being part of a recent TV commercial.

Like many strength coaches, he’s a high-energy guy with a booming voice that leads pre-practice stretches and workout sessions.

He’s a two-time national strength coach of the year, and joined the Alabama staff in 2007 after he spent 3 seasons with the New Orleans Hornets of the NBA as an assistant strength coach. Cochran has been on Nick Saban’s staff for all 6 national titles, as he served as an assistant at LSU in 2003.

Before spring practice, Cochran implements Saban’s offseason workout plan, which includes the well-known “Fourth Quarter Program.”

He received one of the highest honors in his field when he was named the 2011 Samson Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Year, as featured in American Football Quarterly. He earlier was named the Samson Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Year following the 2008 season.
