According to a report from AL.com, Alabama sophomore tight end Kurt Freitag was caught with a large amount of marijuana and cash by the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force. A search of court records by AL.com turned up information which stated that agents seized 112 grams of marijuana and $4,661 in cash from Freitag, but the player was not charged with a crime or arrested as far as the report reflects.

The task force received a tip from a confidential informant last week of a pending drug deal, and on Oct. 7, agents confronted Freitag at his dormitory in Bryant Hall. He was read his Miranda rights and gave agents permission to search his dorm room, where they found the drugs and cash. Freitag’s role in any drug deal was not specified.

Freitag has not appeared in any games this season due to a turf toe injury that required surgery, and he has not practiced with the team yet this season. He was a four-star recruit from Georgia.

Alabama has not yet commented on the matter.
