Alabama is reportedly set to hire an active FBS coordinator to fill the tight ends coach position under Kalen DeBoer.

According to Ryan C. Fowler (host of “The Game with Ryan Fowler” on 100.9 in Tuscaloosa), the Crimson Tide are expected to hire Bryan Ellis to serve as the TEs coach for the Crimson Tide. Ellis is a former quarterback at UAB who currently serves as the offensive coordinator under Clay Helton and Georgia Southern.

After finishing his playing career at UAB, Ellis began his coaching career as a GA for the program. Since then, he has spent time at Western Kentucky (two stints) and USC before joining Georgia Southern.

In addition to the reported move of hiring Ellis, the Crimson Tide are expected to hire longtime offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic for the same role under DeBoer. Kapilovic was most recently at Michigan State before accepting a job at Baylor this offseason.

It has been far from a smooth start to DeBoer’s time in Tuscaloosa, but his coaching staff is once again starting to take shape for the 2024 season. Now, it’s up to that group to maintain the track record established by Nick Saban with Alabama once again among the best national championship odds entering a new era of college football.
