HOOVER, Ala. – The University of Alabama was tabbed as having the team to bet in the annual poll at SEC Media Days released Friday morning, which is both good and bad for the Crimson Tide.

Of the 293 voters to cast ballots, Alabama was picked as the projected champion on 153, with Auburn a distant second.

However, since 1996 the media has correctly picked the team to win the championship only twice, LSU in 2007 and Florida in 2008.

The last four times Alabama was tabbed as the team to beat (2000, 2010, 2011 and 2013) it failed to win its division.

Alabama also had the most first-team individual selections with nine. Since 1992, the most players on a first-team were also nine by Alabama in 2011 and eight by Alabama (2010) and Florida (2009).

Wide receiver Amari Cooper led all vote-getters with 282, edging teammate T.J. Yeldon (281) and Georgia running back Todd Gurley (280).

Since 2000, Arkansas’ Darren McFadden is the only unanimous selection to the SEC Media Days Team.
