Alabama brought in a couple of key transfers this offseason to bolster a roster that lost John Petty Jr. and Herbert Jones to the NBA.

One of those transfers was former Texas Tech guard Nimari Burnett, a former 5-star recruit.

However, he could miss a sizable portion (or all) of the season, per a report from Cecil Hurt of the Tuscaloosa News. Per Hurt’s report, Burnett has suffered a serious injury:

Nimari Burnett, a  2020 McDonald’s All-America forward who transferred from Texas Tech to Alabama last spring, has suffered a “serious knee injury” per sources close to the UA program.

Burnett played in 12 games in 2020-21, averaging 5.3 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 17.7 minutes per contest.

Alabama plays Gonzaga, Baylor and Houston during nonconference play. All 3 of those teams made the Final Four last year. Not having Burnett will hurt.
