Alabama will be getting one year out of one of the best receivers in the Mid-American Conference last season, and his former teammate expects big things.

In a story by AL.com’s Michael Casagrande, transfer receiver Gehrig Dieter got some high praise from his Bowling Green teammate last season Roger Lewis, who is at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Lewis told Casagrande that Dieter, who will play his final season at Alabama, is a “technician” and is a great fit with the Crimson Tide.

“I mean, he snags the ball with one hand,” Lewis said. “He’s got hands. I think he’s just naturally born with that and he has great size. He’s working very hard on and off the field. And he’s a great leader. He was one of the leaders in the receiver room at Bowling Green.”

The 6-foot-3, 207-pound Dieter finished 3rd in the Mid-American Conference with 94 receptions to go with 1,033 yards and 10 touchdowns. He opened last season by catching 7 passes for 133 yards and a touchdown against Tennessee.

Dieter’s 133 receiving yards were the most recorded by any player against the Tennessee defense last season, and it was one of only four 100-yard efforts against the Vols. Meanwhile, the seven catches were tied for the most against UT.
