Alabama and Texas A&M waged an entertaining battle on Saturday at Kyle Field, and the “SEC on CBS” audience reflected that.

That game drew 7.23 million viewers, only behind the Oklahoma win over Texas, which pulled in 7.87 million viewers, according to Sports Media Watch. For context, the previous week’s “SEC on CBS” game, Georgia’s win over Auburn, drew 6.399 million viewers.

And even though Georgia had a lopsided win over Kentucky, it still was the 5th-most watched game of the week with 3.19 million viewers. LSU’s win over Missouri also had a large audience, with 2.34 million from the noon window.

Jalen Milroe and Jermaine Burton put on a deep-ball show as Alabama edged Texas A&M 26-20 on Saturday to take control of the SEC West. Alabama overcame 14 penalties and a slew of other mistakes to prevail. Nick Saban said, “This may be the record game for me in terms of messing up and still winning.”

Georgia, meanwhile, avoided a slow start for the first time this season against an SEC team. After the Bulldogs plodded through sluggish starts in wins over South Carolina and Auburn, they dump-trucked Kentucky 51-13 on Saturday. Carson Beck passed for 389 yards and 4 touchdowns and Brock Bowers had 7 catches for 132 yards.
