Landon Dickerson was once a transfer from Florida State, but after the reaction to his season-ending knee injury against Florida in the SEC Championship, it’s evident that he is fully ensconced in the Crimson Tide family.
He reflected that feeling with an appreciation tweet after the news was announced that his season was over as Alabama gets set to play in the College Football Playoff.
“Words can’t describe how thankful and appreciative I am for all the thoughts, prayers, and support. I would not be the man I am today without this team,” he tweeted. “Since day 1 they welcomed me with open arms and treated me like family. This team is my FAMILY.”
Coach Nick Saban said on Sunday that an MRI revealed ligament damage.
Dickerson is regarded as one of the best interior offensive linemen in college football in 2020, and he is a semifinalist for the Outland Trophy. Pro Football Focus ranks Dickerson as the top-rated run-blocking center with a grade of 91.0 while ranking No. 3 among centers in the FBS with an overall offensive grade of 89.5.
Before Alabama, he was at Florida State for three seasons. With the Crimson Tide, he averaged an overall blocking grade of 91.0 by the Alabama coaching staff and 99.6 on assignments, as he made 23 starts at Alabama, including 19 at center on a line considered a leading candidate for the 2020 Joe Moore Award.
