For the second time this week, an Alabama senior defender appears to be leaving Nick Saban’s program and has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

Following Ben Davis’s decision to enter the portal, the senior linebacker issued his farewell statement to the program when he did so, fellow senior linebacker Ale Kaho has joined Davis in entering the portal.

News of Kaho’s decision to enter the portal was first reported by 247Sports.

Kaho didn’t start for Alabama’s defense but he has been a key special teams player for the Crimson Tide. Kaho twice was named Special Teams Player of the Week by Alabama’s coaching staff last season (vs. Kentucky and vs. LSU) and he blocked three punts during the 2019 season.

Kaho came to Tuscaloosa after being rated as one of the nation’s best linebacker prospects in the 2018 recruiting cycle. 247Sports had Kaho listed as the No. 2 overall inside linebacker prospect in the country in his class. Davis arrived in Tuscaloosa after being rated as a five-star prospect.

The silver lining for Alabama following these moves is that any potential departures could free up some playing time for arguably the best linebacking corps in the SEC next season.
