Andrew Pinckney, Alabama OF, receives weekly honor following impressive opening weekend
Andrew Pinckney of Alabama took home DI Baseball’s SEC Player of the Week honor for his excellent opening week performances against Richmond.
Now, Richmond isn’t exactly Arkansas or Stanford, but Pinckney’s combined outings from this past weekend definitely earn him the weekly honor. The star outfielder recorded 8 hits and a walk in 11 plate appearances, finishing 8-10 with 2 RBI and 1 home run. In doing so, he helped lead Alabama to a 3-game sweep of the Spiders.

Pinckney is entering his 4th season at Alabama, though he did not see action his freshman year. He’s an All-SEC talent who had perhaps the best introduction to the 2023 season as anyone in the country.
Alabama, which is currently rated as the No. 20 team in the nation, has a pair of battles against the state of Tennessee on its midweek schedule. The Crimson Tide host Tennessee Tech Tuesday before taking on UT Martin Wednesday afternoon.
