Heading into last Saturday, Associated Press Top 25 voters saw Georgia at Alabama as No. 3 vs. No. 2 in the Crimson Tide’s favor. On the 247Sports Team Talent Composite, which looks at the recruiting ratings of players on the roster, it was No. 1 vs. No. 2 in the Dawgs’ favor.

So which UA players were the difference-makers in a 17-point win for Nick Saban’s squad? John Brice of Football Scoop shared analysis from six anonymous coaches. The coaches were divided on which position group deserved the most credit.

“Everybody is saying the difference (Saturday) night was between the quarterbacks at Bama and Georgia and that’s the difference in the game; it’s not. It’s the wide receivers. They don’t drop it, and they score at Alabama,” Coach No. 1 said.

Another coach said receivers were the difference makers on Saturday night.

“The QB (Jones) is really good at Alabama. He made some throws. They just outmatched Georgia on the perimeter from a receiver standpoint,” Coach No. 2 said.

One of the six coaches, however, maintained Mac Jones deserves credit as the difference-maker compared to his Georgia counterpart, Stetson Bennett IV.

“Both teams are top 5. Big difference (Saturday) night was the QB spot. Lots of NFL players on the field,” Coach No. 5 said.
