5-star tight end Arik Gilbert announces plans to officially visit Alabama
One of the more interesting recruiting battles in the Southeastern Conference for the 2020 recruiting cycle rages on with Arik Gilbert seemingly far from making his final decision when it comes to which program he will ultimately sign. While a decision date may be far off, Gilbert is ready to begin taking his official visits with the Crimson Tide getting the first opportunity to impress the Marietta, Ga., native.
On Tuesday, the Marietta High School standout announced he will visit Tuscaloosa this weekend for an official visit. Following this visit, Gilbert will have only four official visits he can take before signing with a college program.
If you are unfamiliar with Gilbert’s recruitment, he is listed as a top 10 prospect in the country and the No. 1 athlete according to 247Sports Composite Rankings in the 2020 recruiting cycle. Georgia’s No. 2 overall rated prospect recently announced a top 10 of Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee and Texas A&M in the SEC with Clemson, Oklahoma, Penn State and USC making the list outside the conference.
While his list may span double-digit teams at the moment, Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee are currently the favorites to land the five-star recruit.
The 6-foot-5, 245-pound prospect has caught 142 passes for 1,780 yards and 21 touchdowns for Marietta High School during his sophomore and junior seasons. He also plays defense for Marietta, racking up 126 tackles and 12 sacks during that time.

Stay home young man. Mama is calling and your family and friends can have the easy drive to Athens every Saturday the Dawgs are in town. The Dawg Nation is ready to embrace you with all we have.
LMAO…
Where have you been bamatard, long time no smell?
What happened, did the judge get serious on the bail amount for your latest bestiality rap?
Good God, sir, calm down.
Troll.
Who is trolling? I see four UGA fans posting on a Bama article that’s on the Bama page….
I’m laughing that a UGA fan comes to a Bama article and posts like its being read by the kid… If he doesn’t end up at UGA you guys will just come back with you didn’t want him.. Go have your circle jerk on a UGA article or troll Florida some more… UGA actually beat them but we know the results when they play Bama…
All he did at the time was post an encouraging remark that was positive and didn’t throw shade at anyone. There is one reply, not even an original comment, on this article that could be considered a “troll”.
And I laughed at him. On a Bama article he talks about embracing him and come to UGA… Take that $hit to a UGA article…
Take it to a UGA article? Gilbert could be argued for as UGA’s #1 priority recruit this year, maybe alongside Kendall Milton.
And again the article is about him visiting Bama and is on a Bama page… If he wants to suck up to a recruit on a Bama article when the recruit isn’t reading this then I will laugh at him.. If he wants to get pat on the back for his post he needs to take it to a UGA article.
Gross, get a room.
Most agree that this is a UGA vs. Tenn battle.
Fly fisher says it’s between UGA & UT. The article says his top 10 schools include 5 SEC schools and UGA isn’t on that list. Of course the article than states that Bama, UGA & UT are leading the race. So which paragraph am I to believe. I’m going with Fly guy.
According to 247 it’s UGA then Bama and OU…
Yea I’d take anything SDS posts with a grain of salt. The comment section seems to always have much better information (if you can sift through all the trolling and lighthearted jabs)
