Tennessee won the opening coin toss and elected to defer to the second half, giving Alabama the ball first in Saturday’s showdown between the Crimson Tide and the Vols.

On that opening kickoff, disaster struck for the Crimson Tide, as kickoff returner and star WR Jaylen Waddle had his right ankle rolled up on and immediately hopped to the sidelines.

As you can see below, it was an ugly looking injury, and the Tide wasted no time getting him back to the locker room, presumably for X-rays:

Waddle couldn’t put any weight on his ankle heading back into the locker room, so it looks like it could be a serious injury.

We’ll see if any further news is revealed about Waddle’s injury as the game goes on.
