Baker Mayfield confident that Bryce Young will bounce back from benching
Baker Mayfield still has confidence in Bryce Young after all the backlash he’s received for his below-par performance as of late, and is no stranger to adversity throughout his own career with experiences that did not work out for him.
“My (story) didn’t happen in the same time frame as Bryce, but quarterback is hard, especially for young guys when you’re not surrounded with the pieces you need and are not given the opportunity to have success,” Mayfield said.
In Mayfield’s eyes, Young’s story is still far from over. It’s just going to take some change.
“A lot of the time, guys have the talent, they might have the brains, but they don’t have the right opportunity, the right fit. I’m sitting here right now in a way better fit than other places I’ve been. That’s not to put other teams down, but… for a guy like Bryce (Young), it’s about finding that belief in yourself again and he’ll get it. His story is far from finished.”
Baker Mayfield was asked about Bryce Young's benching in Carolina, and he explained how tough playing quarterback is, especially when the supporting cast isn’t great.

The former Alabama quarterback was benched on Monday by the Panthers after he passed for 245 yards, zero touchdowns and 3 interceptions in the team’s past couple of losses in the midst of his second NFL season.
How Young is able to bounce back, and if he’s given the opportunity to do that with Carolina, will be something to keep an eye on as he’s now drawn a great deal of doubt and grief from both analysts and the fan base.
