It’s been said that New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and Alabama head coach Nick Saban are cut from the same cloth. Considering one of Belichick’s post-Super Bowl comments following arguably the greatest comeback (considering the stakes of the game and size of the deficit) in football history, that’s a fair assessment, to say the least.

So what did Belichick say? He’s upset at being slightly behind on 2017’s preparation:

Sound familiar Alabama fans? That statement is typical of many the Tides’ head coach has given on multiple occasions after bringing home a national title.

It’s no coincidence, outside of his father, Saban has learned the most about the game from Belichick. The two coached together in the NFL at Cleveland long after striking up a friendship as young NFL assistants. Widely considered to be the best coaches – maybe ever – at their respective levels, it may be their level of preparation, along with dedication and drive to their craft, that set them apart from their contemporaries.

While both coaches took their teams to title game appearances this season, no doubt they both already have their full focus toward the 2017 campaigns.
