Brady Quinn and Danny Kanell want the Iron Bowl rivalry game between Alabama and Auburn to live up to its potential.

But with the teams going in different directions, Quinn and Kanell predicted on CBS Sports’ college football betting preview that the Crimson Tide would cover the spread against the Tigers. The spread is currently at 14.5 for Quinn and Kanell, with an over/under of 48.5

“I don’t feel great about it because it’s a rivalry game,” Quinn said. “Crazy things happen in college football.”

At 10-1 and ranked 8th in the nation, Quinn said when you divide the college football season in half, Alabama has been “one of the best teams” in the second half.

Quinn praised QB Jalen Milroe leading the charge on offense for the Crimson Tide. He has 2,267 passing yards and 19 TDs, along with 332 rushing yards and 12 TD runs so far.

“I have zero concerns where this offense is at right now,” Quinn said.

Quinn noted that Alabama’s defense is “right behind” Georgia in terms of SEC play. Quinn, however, said he “can’t say the same” about Auburn.

The Tigers, currently 6-5 on the season, is coming off a 31-10 loss to New Mexico State.

“Maybe Auburn was overlooking New Mexico State or looking towards the Iron Bowl matchup,” Quinn said. “It’s hard to imagine them hanging close (with Alabama).”

Quinn mentioned that if Alabama can shut down junior tailback Jarquez Hunter and Auburn’s run game, the Crimson Tide will cover the spread. Hunter has 772 rushing yards and seven TD runs on the season.

Kanell mentioned that Auburn did play Georgia tight in a 27-20 loss back in September. But Kanell added that it “ain’t going to happen the same way” against Alabama.

“They are so limited offensively with what they can do,” Kanell said.

The Crimson Tide and Tigers will meet this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on CBS.
