Bryce Young records first NFL TD in Panthers' preseason finale vs. Lions
Bryce Young will be a primary focus around the NFL as he embarks on his rookie season in the league. The Carolina Panthers have been in search of a legitimate franchise quarterback since the departure of Cam Newton in 2019, and they’re hoping that the former Alabama signal-caller and 2021 Heisman Trophy winner — who they took No. 1 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft — is it.
Young and the Panthers hosted the Detroit Lions in both teams’ preseason finales on Friday night. And during Carolina’s first drive of the game, he connected with veteran Adam Thielen for his first NFL touchdown.

Young’s final stat line was a respectable 7-of-12 for 73 yards through two series. He also put his running ability on display, credited with 21 yards on three carries.
Young and the Panthers now turn their attention to the regular season and Sept. 10’s Week 1 contest against the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, a venue he’s already familiar with during his time with Alabama. How will the former Tide star fare in his rookie campaign?
