Bryce Young’s future with the Carolina Panthers was already in jeopardy after getting benched in favor of Andy Dalton after Week 2.

Dalton’s Week 3 performance against the Las Vegas Raiders — over 300 yards and 3 first-half touchdowns — have led to even more doubts that Young will start another game for the Panthers.

Young was seen as Carolina’s franchise quarterback when it took the Alabama great and the 2021 Heisman Trophy winner with the first overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. He struggled as a rookie, throwing for just 2,877 yards and 11 touchdowns versus 10 interceptions. His offensive line didn’t help much as he was brought down 62 times, second-most in the league.

Any hopes that Young would improve in his second season didn’t materialize over the first 2 games of 2024: he was 13-of-30 for 161 yards in the opener against the New Orleans Saints in a 47-10 blowout loss, getting sacked 4 times and throwing 2 INTs. In a 26-3 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, he was 18-of-26 for 84 yards and an interception, taking 2 sacks.

Dalton’s command of the Panthers offense, though, has been night and day compared to that of Young, at least for one game. And reaction from social media poured in on Sunday:
