Christian Harris proved to be a solid defender for the Alabama defense in recent years, and on Monday he announced his plans for the 2022 season.

“After carefully reviewing my options with my family, I know I am ready to accomplish my next goal,” Harris wrote on Instagram. “With that said, I am foregoing my senior year and declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft.”

Harris played in every game over the last 3 seasons, most notably being Alabama’s starting Will linebacker role as a true freshman in 2019 and then held onto the starting job throughout his career. Harris started all 15 games this past season and made 79 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, 4 quarterback hurries, 3 pass breakups and 2 forced fumbles.

Harris also thanked his coaches, teammates and and other supporters.

“I want to especially thank Coach Saban and Coach Golding for coaching me up and instilling values that I will take with me on and off the field,” he wrote. “Over the past three years, I have developed amazing relationships and made everlasting memories with my teammates. Being a student-athlete at the University of Alabama has molded me not only as a football player, but as a man able to succeed in whatever I set out to accomplish.”
