Ahmad ‘Sauce’ Gardner is one of the best cornerbacks in the country, and will figure to play a prominent role in the Cotton Bowl matchup with Alabama.
But he won’t be caught adding to any motivation to Alabama and QB Bryce Young.
“I’ve never competed against him,” Gardner told reporters, per Mike Rodak. “I don’t know where he’s from. But all I can say, he’s a good quarterback. He’s a great quarterback. He’s very smart even though he’s young. And that’s all I really know about him.”
Gardner has 35 tackles this season with 3 interceptions, 3 sacks and 4 breakups. He had a career-high 8 tackles this season against ECU, and he picked off passes this season against Murray State, Notre Dame and South Florida.
Gardner is a consensus All-American, but was a Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist as his teammate Coby Bryant won the award.
