College GameDay continues pace for best season ever with smash ratings from Alabama in Week 5
College GameDay pregame show is living large in 2024, with its ratings pace at an all-time high.
So, not only did the Alabama-Georgia showdown that the show was in Tuscaloosa for in the first place produce record ratings on Saturday night, but hours earlier that morning the pregame show did incredibly well in the ratings department, too.
GameDay averaged 2.3 million viewers throughout the program, with the final-hour viewership rising to 3.0 million. The ratings were up an astounding 38% over the Week 5 pregame ratings from last season.
The numbers showed that interest in college football this early in the season (it was the last pregame show of September) is at an all-time high, since Saturday’s pregame show was the top-rated September episode since 2010 and the 2nd-best all-time.
All of this good news for GameDay can be summarized with the fact that the pregame show is on pace for its best season ever.

Rece Davis, who’s been the host of College GameDay for almost a decade now, even wrote a thank you message on social media to all the loyal viewers who are making this all possible.
“Thanks to all of you who are watching,” Davis wrote. “We do this show for the people who love this sport the way we do — and to bring in everyone else who will soon love it that way too!”
Davis then gave a shout out to Cal football fans, as the Week 6 GameDay road show heads to Berkeley for Saturday night’s showdown between No. 8 Miami and the host Bears.

Saban is the reason for the massive increase in ratings. All this in spite of having that buffoon McAfee on the show.
