The SEC postpones the upcoming Alabama-LSU game
Alabama was scheduled to travel to Tiger Stadium to take on LSU this Saturday in a primetime SEC on CBS matchup but that will no longer be the case as the Southeastern Conference has decided to postpone the game due to COVID issues being experienced in Baton Rouge this week.
This news was first reported by Jim Dunaway of WJOX radio in Birmingham.
Here is the official statement released by SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey following the news:
“While it is unfortunate to have multiple postponements in the same week, we began the season with the understanding interruptions to the schedule were possible and we have remained focused throughout the season on the health of everyone around our programs. We must remain vigilant, within our programs and in our communities, to prevent the spread of the virus and to manage activities that contribute to these interruptions.”
Ed Orgeron had previously announced that LSU was going to be very limited for the Alabama game, without providing any specific numbers on how many scholarship players would be available to play against the Crimson Tide. With Myles Brennan ruled out for the game by Orgeron, freshman quarterback TJ Finley is believed to be the only available scholarship QB the Tigers would have had on Saturday.
LSU has already had a game postponed this season, as the Tigers trip to Gainesville was postponed following an outbreak in Gainesville earlier this season. That game was set to be played on Saturday, Oct. 17, but has been rescheduled for Dec. 12.
That complicates matters for Alabama and LSU, as the two teams likely won’t be able to meet on Saturday, Dec. 19 with the Crimson Tide likely to be playing in the 2020 SEC Championship Game on that date.
Here is what the SEC had to say about the possibility of rescheduling the Alabama-LSU game:
“Because LSU has a game tentatively scheduled for December 12, the opportunity to reschedule the Alabama at LSU game will need to be evaluated.”
Once the SEC makes a final decision on the status of this game, we will be sure to pass along that information.
Stay of Execution……Granted!
Man up Ed. Take your beating like a man.
Move the Alabama/Kentucky game to the Dec. 12th. Move the Arkansas/LSU game to Dec. 19th (neither are winning the West). Play the Alabama/LSU game on Nov. 21st.
You’re welcome, SEC. I’ll be looking for my check.
That’s an interesting idea for the most part
Since LSU is the home team, just cancel the game and give Bama the loss. Just kidding Bammers.
In all seriousness, this year just sucks. Was looking forward to watching some good football this weekend but with each passing weekend, seeing more and more cancels.
Let me guess Ed lobbied the SEC office to postpone the game. After his actions after the game in Tuscaloosa last year he knows a curb stomping is coming.
What did he do after the game last year? I can’t remember
Contact tracing! Phooey! With only 6 degrees of separation, may as well quartine the entire population.
Now to wait and see how they plan to schedule it.
The SEC postpones the LSU/Bama game. I guess Bama is still afraid of LSU. The funny thing is the bama fans don’t realize it. The SEC office, located in Alabama and composed primarily of bama alums, who have obviously manipulated everything possible in bama’s favor forever – don’t believe me; ask any non-bama fan, strikes again. It could be they’re afraid of anyone bama getting COVID, though. They’ve already had one big scare with Saban; they don’t want another.
LMAO..
At the onset of delusions and irrational thoughts or behavior:
1. You should slowly put the pipe down.
2. Step away and seek professional help immediately.
What you’ve just said was one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Ed O knows his team has quit on him this season. He has poorly managed his roster and his coaching staff. He’s in fear of becoming Chizik 2.0.
Well now come on…just shift everything forward including the SEC Championship game, the remaining bowls games including the CFP. A lot of the bowl games are not worth playing anyway. Could always expand the CFP to eight teams spread over four bowl sights. How many want to NOT have all games rescheduled rather than play the Birmingham, Music City, “Sassparilla”..you get the picture.
