Former Alabama CB Patrick Surtain II didn’t have to wait long to hear his name called in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The Denver Broncos picked him with the No. 9 overall pick in the first round, so now he heads to the Mile High city to begin his NFL career.

On Monday, the Broncos announced jersey numbers for their new players. As you can see below, Surtain will wear the No. 2 jersey that he also donned at Alabama:

Defenders are allowed to wear single-digit jersey numbers this year, and it seems Surtain is taking advantage of that.

Single-digit numbers will likely not be handed out very often to defensive players in the near future, so we’ll see if Surtain lives up to the faith the Broncos are showing in him.
