A former Alabama defender has made the decision to play closer to home beginning in 2021.

Redshirt freshman linebacker Kevin Harris, who entered the NCAA transfer portal in November, announced on Twitter on Friday that he will transfer to Georgia Tech.

Before signing with the Crimson Tide ahead of the 2019 season, Harris played at Grayson High School in Loganville, Ga., about 45 minutes from Atlanta. He was ranked as a 4-star recruit by 247Sports and as the No. 5 weakside defensive end in the class.

He was moved to linebacker upon his arrival in college but failed to break into the Crimson Tide’s talented LB rotation, redshirting as a true freshman and ultimately choosing to transfer without playing a down. He will now head to the ACC in hopes of showcasing the talent that made him a coveted recruit.

He recorded 71 tackles as a senior at Grayson, including 13.5 stops for lost yardage and 12.5 sacks. He was also credited with 41 quarterback hurries.
