Derrick Henry named a finalist for the Sullivan Award
Derrick Henry is a little more than a month away from potentially becoming a first-round selection in the upcoming 2016 NFL Draft, but the 6-foot-3, 240-pound star running back might not be done adding more hardware to his current (crowded) collection.
Henry, who rushed for 2,219 yards and 28 touchdowns during his junior season with Alabama in 2015, is one of seven finalists for the Sullivan Award, which goes to the top amateur athlete across all amateur sports. He already boasts the 2015 Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award, Doak Walker Award, and the Walter Camp Award in addition to being named a unanimous All-American and taking home SEC Offensive Player of the Year and SEC Championship Game MVP honors.
He also helped the Crimson Tide win the College Football Playoff title.
A college football player has won the award three out of the last four years. Navy’s Keenan Reynolds was also named a finalist, as the two are the only two college football players left standing.
Fans can cast their vote for their Sullivan Award pick online until Wednesday, March 23 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
