Eli Ricks does not have a shortage of confidence and the former Alabama cornerback had an interesting response when asked who he’d take with the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft.

“I’m taking Eli Ricks, to be honest,” he said. “I’m sorry.”

Ricks said he can go take the ball against anyone, and his press technique at the line separate him from other players.

Of course, the more likely scenario is Will Anderson Jr. or Bryce Young, the former Alabama pass rusher and quarterback.

Because of a Grade 2 hamstring injury, Ricks did not participate in the NFL Combine, but is planning to work out at Alabama’s Pro Day on March 23.

“I expect to do it all at pro day, and I expect to surprise a lot of people, to be honest,” he said.

Ricks offered some advice from a close friend, Derek Stingley Jr., to be comfortable, be yourself and comfortable in your own skin.

“You only get one chance to do this and it’s my dream,” he said. “It’s a surreal moment, it might be long, but I only get one chance to do that.”
