At this point, ESPN is just padding its viewership stats.

According to a Friday media release by the network, an additional 1.5 million viewers tuned in for Alabama’s national championship victory over Georgia than previously reported. The reason for the new numbers? The data representing the number of streaming viewers was not available until this time.

In total, 29,932,000 viewers tuned in for the game. That figure includes the 1.5 million streaming viewers announced by ESPN.

That figure represents the second most-viewed cable program in the history of television. The only event that tops it was the inaugural College Football Playoff Championship Game, in which Ohio State and Oregon faced off in Arlington, Texas. In total, 33,917,000 viewers tuned in for that game.
