We are 150 days away from arguably the biggest season opening game in college football history. Alabama and Florida State are set to meet Sept. 2 inside Atlanta’s new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in a likely Top 5 showdown that is guaranteed to be the primetime game of college football’s opening Saturday night.

ESPN is doing its part to get the hype machine rolling early, as its Football Power Index initially gives Alabama a 55 percent chance of beating the Seminoles in Atlanta.

Alabama went 14-1 last season and won the SEC while FSU went 10-3 and won the Orange Bowl over Michigan. The Crimson Tide have never lost to Florida State, winning twice against the Noles but did suffer a tie in 1967. The schools last faced off in 2007, but that game was vacated by FSU following an academic fraud scandal by the school.
