No Collin Sexton? No problem for the Alabama Crimson Tide, who cruised to a big 76-71 win over their heated rivals in the Iron Bowl men’s basketball game on Wednesday night.

Alabama’s star point guard missed the game with an abdominal injury, but fellow freshman guard John Petty stepped into the starring role and made a huge impact, leading all scorers with 27 points.

Petty showed some incredible range, knocking down a whopping eight three-pointers, including this one from extremely long range:

Auburn entered the game as one of the hottest teams in the country, sporting a 16-1 record and a 4-0 mark in SEC play. However, the Tide proved to be too much for the Tigers on Wednesday night in Tuscaloosa, even without Sexton, who is likely to be a first-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

Following some early struggles with turnovers, the Tide found their footing and managed to mount a second-half comeback against the No. 17 Tigers after trailing 33-30 at the intermission.

Auburn was led by Bryce Brown’s 12 points in what was an off night for the Tigers on the offensive end of the floor. The Tigers also only managed to make 14 of their 22 free-throw attempts, missing some in key situations in the second half.

Alabama fans certainly weren’t happy with the referees on Wednesday night, chanting “Refs, you suck!” after a questionable fifth foul call on Herbert Jones.

Alabama improved to 12-6 with the victory, while Auburn fell to 16-2. The Tide have a game against Mississippi State on Saturday night, while the Tigers host Georgia on the same night.
