Former Alabama DB Antiono Kite has gone to UA’s biggest rival after two seasons with the Crimson Tide.

Auburn has announced Kite, who entered the transfer portal on Saturday, as an AU signee. Kite has three remaining seasons of eligibility.

While the rivalry is the lead storyline of Kite’s transfer, he reunites with a familiar face on The Plains. Charles Kelly recently joined Hugh Freeze’s staff as co-defensive coordinator.

Kelly was associate defensive coordinator at Alabama from 2019-22, and recruited Kite to the Tide out of Anniston (Alabama) High School in the 2022 class.

At Alabama, Kite redshirted his first season on campus. He played in two games of the 2022 season.

This past season, Kite was a depth piece in the Alabama secondary while contributing on special teams. He appeared in seven games as a redshirt freshman.

According to Creg Stephenson of AL.com, Kite is just the second scholarship player of the modern era to transfer from Alabama to Auburn. Corey Grant was the first in 2011.

Since Nick Saban’s retirement, Alabama has lost numerous players to the transfer portal, leading to roster turnover reactions around the college football world. In addition to transfers and player departures, Auburn and others have been working to flip Alabama recruits who pledged to the former staff.
