Baltimore Ravens defensive back Anthony Averett has been placed on the team’s injured reserve list, the team announced on Thursday.
To fill his place on the roster, the Ravens activated nose tackle Brandon Williams from the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Averett, a former Alabama cornerback, has recorded 11 tackles in 6 games this season. For his career, the Woodbury, N.J. native has played in 26 total games, making 30 stops. However, he sustained a fracture to his shoulder in Sunday’s win against the Eagles and will be out for “five to six weeks”, according to Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh.
Averett won 2 national championships while with the Crimson Tide, in 2015 and 2017. He recorded 96 tackles during his final 2 seasons in Tuscaloosa, including 2.0 sacks and 7.0 tackles for a loss, along with an interception. He was then drafted by Baltimore in the 4th round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
The Ravens, 5-1 on the season, take on the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday in a battle of 2 AFC North frontrunners.
