Jake Coker has a unique perspective on the upcoming Alabama-Florida State game, as he spent time with both storied programs and won national championships with both schools.
So, ahead of the Week 1 matchup between the No. 1 Crimson Tide and the No. 3 Seminoles, Coker — currently an NFL free agent — weighed in on what he thinks will happen.
According to AL.com, Coker predicts Alabama will earn a narrow 24-17 victory, but said he expects both offenses to be pretty conservative:
“I would imagine there’s going to be a lot more down-hill runs and some pretty conservative passing,” Coker said. “There’s going to be play-action deep threats. It’s going to be a lot like the Patriots offense.
“Coach Fisher isn’t going to be pulling new tricks out of the bag. He’s going to run his base offense. That’s the scariest part of playing coach Fisher. He knows how to call plays. They’re going to be dangerous.
“I know coach Saban has faced every scenario possible.”
The Crimson Tide and Seminoles will play on Saturday, Sept. 2, at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game.
The game will kick off at 8 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on ABC.
