Though long snappers don’t usually get attention unless they make a mistake, former Alabama long snapper Carson Tinker was well known during his time in Tuscaloosa, playing an important role on Crimson Tide teams that won three BCS national championships during his career.
Now a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tinker is again performing an important task while not receiving much attention.
However, after suffering a torn ACL on Thursday, Tinker will be noticeably absent from the Jaguars’ lineup this fall as he recovers.
On Saturday morning, an emotional Tinker tweeted out a heartfelt note thanking fans for their support and promising to come back even stronger in 2018:
I really want to thank everyone (fans, friends, family) who have reached out to me. Kind words go a long way. pic.twitter.com/XZH6OzZ1R1

Tinker has been with the Jaguars since going undrafted at the 2013 NFL Draft, so his roster spot should be safe as he spends this year on injured reserve.
At least the former Crimson Tide snapper will have fatherhood to keep him distracted from the fact that he isn’t playing the game he loves this fall.
