Former Alabama running back Jerome Ford scored a touchdown in his NFL preseason debut.

Friday night in Jacksonville, Ford got the Cleveland Browns on the board against the Jaguars with a short TD run on 3rd-and-goal in the second quarter.

A 4-star all-purpose back in the class of 2018, Ford signed with Alabama over 21 other scholarship offers coming out of Armwood High School in Florida. In 2018, Ford played in 4 games, rushing 7 times for 37 yards. Ford was a redshirt freshman in 2019 when he logged 24 carries for 114 yards and 3 touchdowns.

After the 2019 season, Ford transferred to Cincinnati and found more playing time with the Bearcats. In 2020, Ford carried the ball 73 times for 483 yards and 8 touchdowns. Ford had the most productive season of his career in 2021, rushing 215 times for 1,319 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Ahead of Cincinnati’s College Football Playoff game against the Crimson Tide, Ford spoke about working to shed the label of “the Alabama transfer.”

“I’m thankful for everything Coach (Nick) Saban did for me and the opportunity to play at Alabama,” Ford said at a CFP media opportunity in December. “But I’m a Bearcat, and I would kind of appreciate it if people stopped calling me ‘the Alabama transfer.’ I am a Cincinnati Bearcat.”

Ford was selected by the Browns with the No. 156 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
