Former Alabama star and current Oakland Raiders running back Josh Jacobs has one of the best stories in football.

Jacobs and his family were homeless at times during his childhood, sleeping in cars and motels. America fell in love with Jacobs and his story in 2018 when he excelled for Alabama and 2019 just prior to the NFL Draft. The Raiders ended up selecting Jacobs with the 24th pick overall. He lived up to the hype, too, rushing for 1,150 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Alabama has been producing a series of interviews titled “Why Bama” all offseason. It features former players explaining why they signed with Alabama over other programs. The latest features Jacobs.

“I chose Alabama because they didn’t treat me only as a football recruit,” Jacobs said. “When I came in and I talked to (Nick) Saban, most of the whole conversation he was talking about was just how to become a better man and how to become a better person, and that when I leave, when I graduate that I’ll be better off because of that.

“They didn’t try to talk down on any other teams or any other schools or anything like that. They just showed me what they had to offer, and that’s what sold me the most.”
