Former Alabama punter J.K. Scott will be returning to the Los Angeles Chargers this season.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that it is a new 2-year, $4 million contract for Scott.

Scott played in all 17 regular-season games for the Chargers in 2022, leading a punt team that allowed an average of only 3.1 yards allowed per opponent. In his first year with the team, Scott punted 73 times for an average of 43.6 yards per punt.

After placing four punts inside the 20-yard line in the Chargers’ Week 12 win over Arizona, Scott was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week last season. Scott also accumulated four games with at least three or more punts placed inside an opponent’s 20-yard line, an AFC-best record.

Prior to his professional career, Scott was a standout at Alabama, where he was a consensus first-team All-SEC selection and was chosen as an All-American by multiple outlets. Scott was selected by the Green Bay Packers with the 172nd overall pick in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
