Success at high school football is the natural first step for any athlete who wants to play FBS football. Former Alabama wide receiver Gehrig Dieter thanked his high school alma mater this week by donating equipment to the football program.

Dieter, in a partnership with Adidas and X-Tech, gave 75 pairs of cleats and eight pairs of shoulder pads to Washington High School in South Bend, Indiana. Washington football coach Todd Stammich couldn’t have been more pleased.

“It’s just a very wonderful thing, and he’s made a commitment far beyond,” Stammich said according to WNDU.com. “He’s over anxious to contribute to the program that felt had a part in sending him on his way. That’s really nice.”

Washington will wear their new gear for the first time in a game Friday night.
