Long-time NFL long snapper and beloved Alabama player Carson Tinker was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday. The Bucs had signed Tinker when their snapper Zach Triner tore a tendon in his right ring finger according to AL.com.

On Monday, Triner came off of the injured reserve list and they released Tinker. Tinker became the heart of Alabama’s 2011 national championship team after he suffered an injury when an F-4 tornado ripped through Tuscaloosa in April of that year.

Although Tinker survived his injuries, he lost his girlfriend in the storm.

Another Crimson Tide player who also made some news Wednesday was the Detroit Lions’ Da’Shawn Hand, who was placed on injured reserved for a groin injury.
